Tinubu heads to Kebbi for project inaugurations, iconic fishing festival

President Bola Tinubu is set to undertake a one-day official visit to Kebbi State on Saturday, where he will inaugurate key projects spearheaded by Governor Dr Nasir Idris.
The trip highlights the administration’s focus on infrastructure and cultural promotion.
According to a statement signed today by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information & Strategy, “President Tinubu embarks on one-day official visit to Kebbi State.”
While in Kebbi, Tinubu will also serve as the special guest of honour at the 61st edition of the 2026 Argungu International Fishing and Cultural Festival.
This renowned event, staged by the riverside of the historic Matan Fada – recognised by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH) of Humanity – draws global attention as one of Africa’s most celebrated cultural spectacles.
The statement emphasises the festival’s prestige, “The festival is one of Africa’s most celebrated cultural events.”
Onanuga noted that Tinubu’s itinerary underscores the president’s commitment to supporting state-led development and preserving Nigeria’s rich heritage amid ongoing national challenges.
