President Bola Tinubu marked his 74th birthday on Sunday with a low-key celebration, expressing profound gratitude to Nigerians amid ongoing national reforms.

Tinubu, in a statement addressed to Nigerians, reflected on the occasion, thanking citizens for their “messages, show of love and prayers.”

He specifically acknowledged those who “taken space in newspapers or paid for air time on radio and television to wish me well,” as well as his wife, First Lady Oluremi Tinubu, and Vice President Kashim Shettima.

True to his tradition, the president opted for a subdued observance “in line with the mood of the nation.”

He highlighted progress despite challenges, stating, “I’m glad that our sacrifices have not been in vain as we can see some glittering light at the end of the tunnel, despite the temporary setback caused by the ongoing Middle East crisis.”

Tinubu emphasised collective effort, noting, “The credit for the positive outcomes we have achieved does not belong solely to me, our Renewed Hope team and to our government. We achieved the gains together.”

Looking ahead to the administration’s third anniversary, he affirmed, “We are determined to confront some of the challenges we face today, and with your continued support, we shall overcome.”

The statement concluded with a call for unity, “Let us continue to work together to build a stronger, prosperous and more resilient nation that will make Nigeria the pride of Africa.”
