President Bola Tinubu has expressed profound grief over the sudden deaths of two Kano State House of Assembly members, describing the losses as “sad, tragic and painful.”

Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, issued the condolence statement on Friday.

The lawmakers—Aminu Saad Ungogo (Ungogo Constituency) and Aliyu Sarki Daneji (Kano Municipal Constituency)—passed away in separate incidents just an hour apart on Wednesday.

Tinubu highlighted the impact on their communities, noting that their departure “has created a void, depriving the people of the two constituencies of committed representation.”

In his statement, the President offered direct sympathies, “I offer my condolences to their families and constituents as well as the government and people of Kano State. I also commiserate with the presiding officers and all members of the Kano State House of Assembly over the demise of their respected colleagues.”

He concluded with prayers “for the repose of the souls of the late lawmakers and divine comfort to their families.”

The tragedy has cast a shadow over Kano State’s legislative activities, with tributes pouring in from across the political spectrum.
