President Bola Tinubu has put forward nominations for ambassadorial roles to three key countries: the United States, the United Kingdom, and France.

This was confirmed in a statement on Wednesday by the President’s Spokesman, Bayo Onanuga.

“President Tinubu has nominated non-career ambassadors for three countries: the United States, the United Kingdom, and France. The postings will be finalized following Senate screening,” Onanuga stated.

The nominees include Ambassador Ayodele Oke, Retired Colonel Lateef Kayode Are, and Ambassador Amin Mohammed Dalhatu, each bringing extensive experience in intelligence and diplomacy.

Ambassador Amin Mohammed Dalhatu, nominated for France, “previously served as Nigeria’s ambassador to South Korea during President Buhari’s administration,” first appointed in 2016.

Ambassador Ayodele Oke, nominated for the United States, according to Onanuga, “is a former Director General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA) and previously served as Nigeria’s ambassador to the Secretariat of the Commonwealth of Nations in London.”

He is also an alumnus of Emory University in Atlanta.

Retired Colonel Lateef Kayode Are, nominated for the United Kingdom, boasts a distinguished career.

He “was Director General of the State Security Service (SSS) from 1999 to 2007, served as National Security Adviser in 2010, and was an officer in the Directorate of Military Intelligence.”

Additionally, he graduated with “First Class Honours in Psychology from the University of Ibadan in 1980.”

These nominations now proceed to the Nigerian Senate for confirmation before final postings are announced.
