President Bola Tinubu has ordered a total security cordon over the forests in Kwara State following a spike in kidnappings and terrorist activities in the state.

According to Sunday Dare, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, “President Tinubu directed the airforce to expand its air surveillance across the innermost parts of the forests in Kwara State where it is believed the terrorists are hiding.”

The air force is tasked with maintaining continuous 24-hour surveillance and coordinating closely with ground forces to intensify efforts to rescue kidnapped victims.

The directive also extends to the forests in Kebbi and Niger States, where similar rescue operations are underway.

Dare emphasised the importance of community involvement, urging that “Communities are also urged to provide timely information about strange movements and activities to aid the work of the security forces.”

This coordinated approach aims to dismantle criminal networks exploiting remote forest areas and restore security to vulnerable populations.

This decisive measure follows recent kidnappings that have raised alarm in the region, highlighting the government’s commitment to protecting citizens and ensuring safety across affected states.
