Tinubu promotes acting COAS Oluyede to Lieutenant General

President Bola Tinubu has on Tuesday decorated the acting Chief of Army Staff, Olufemi Oluyede, as Lieutenant General.

This was revealed in a post shared by the spokesperson to the president, Bayo Onanuga vis his X (formally Twitter) handle on Tuesday.

He wrote, “President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday decorated Acting chief of army staff, Major General Olufemi Oluyede with the new rank of Lieutenant General.”

Dailyeconomy reports that Tinubu has appointed Major General Olufemi Olatubosun Oluyede as the acting Chief of Army Staff on Wednesday, October 30, 2024.

The COAS, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, has been on leave and out of the country since September.

Recall that Defence Headquarters on Monday, October 21, denied claims that it appointed a senior officer as the acting Chief of Army Staff, stressing that the COAS, Lagbaja is hale and hearty and will soon resume normal duties at the end of his annual leave.
