President Bola Tinubu has reaffirmed commitment to advancing the rights and opportunities of Nigerian women, pledging to dismantle systemic obstacles, expand access to finance, and ensure equitable participation in governance, agriculture, and all sectors of the economy.

In a statement personally signed by the president on Saturday, in commemoration of International Women’s Day 2025, he acknowledged the vital role women play in the nation’s progress and emphasised the need to break barriers that hinder their full potential.

He wrote partly, “Our administration is committed in our Renewed Hope pledge to dismantle obstacles, expand access to finance, and ensure equitable opportunities in governance, agriculture, and every sector.

“To our mothers, daughters, sisters—your strength fuels Nigeria’s future.

“Together, we rise!”

Reflecting on the 30th anniversary of the Beijing Declaration, which set a global agenda for gender equality, the President noted that while progress has been made, many Nigerian women still face significant challenges.

He called for collective action to bridge the gaps and empower women across all spheres of society.

The President lauded Nigerian women for their resilience, brilliance, and contributions to the country, from homes and farms to boardrooms and communities.

He underscored their indispensable role in driving national development and pledged that his government would continue to implement policies that foster inclusion and economic empowerment.

“On this #InternationalWomensDay2025, I celebrate the resilience, brilliance, and indispensable contributions of the Nigerian woman.

“You are the bedrock of our nation, driving progress from our homes to our farms, boardrooms, and communities.

“Yet, 30 years after the Beijing Declaration, too many still face barriers that limit their potential,” the president had written.
