Troops of the 6 Brigade, Nigerian Army, operating under Operation Whirl Stroke and Operation Zafin Wuta, have apprehended a suspected kidnapper in Wukari Local Government Area, Taraba State.

Acting on credible intelligence, the suspect, Umar Musa Geyi, was arrested on 22 November 2025 in the Jandei–Kulamu area while allegedly negotiating a N20 million ransom for an abducted victim.

Lieutenant Umar Mohammed, the Army spokesperson, confirmed that Geyi has been “on the wanted list of security agencies” and is believed to be linked to a kidnapping syndicate around Wukari.

“Preliminary investigations indicated the suspect was connected to the abduction of one Alhaji Jano, who remains in captivity,” Mohammed said.

The troops intercepted Geyi during a phone call in which he “confirmed the victim remained in custody and demanded a N20 million ransom for his release.”

The suspect is now in custody and undergoing further interrogation to aid efforts to locate the victim and facilitate rescue.

Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, Commander of the 6 Brigade, praised the troops for their professionalism and reaffirmed the Brigade’s commitment to dismantling criminal networks across Taraba State.
