Troops of the 12 Brigade, Nigerian Army, have delivered a crushing blow to a terrorist network linked to Kachalla Ibrahim and Shu’aibu during Operation IGBO IDANU I, overrunning a key camp in dense Kogi forests on Wednesday.
Advancing through challenging terrain riddled with fallen trees, marshy ground, and river obstacles, the troops showed remarkable grit.
Led by Brigadier General Kasim Umar Sidi, they dismounted for a stealthy foot assault, catching the terrorists off guard.
“The operation resulted in the complete overrun of the camp,” the Army stated in a statement on Wednesday, noting that the terrorists fled upon spotting the advancing force.
A sweep of the site yielded eight boxes of 7.62 x 54 link ammunition—each with 250-round bandoliers—and one box of high-velocity grenades.
“These recoveries have significantly degraded the terrorists’ operational capability and logistics base,” it added.
The camp was then torched to prevent reuse, with patrols ongoing to hunt down fugitives and block regrouping.
“This operation sends a clear and resounding message to terrorist elements that their hideouts will continually be identified and neutralised,” the statement affirmed, underscoring the Army’s pledge to “safeguarding lives, protecting communities and ensuring lasting peace and security.”
