Troops of Operation WHIRL STROKE (OPWS) have ramped up intelligence-driven operations across Benue and Nasarawa States, neutralising an armed bandit and arresting criminal suspects in a series of aggressive patrols, the Nigerian Army announced Friday.

The Joint Task Force detailed significant successes against criminal elements, including herder militias and bandits.

In a statement released today, the Army says, “OPERATION WHIRL STROKE INTENSIFIES INTELLIGENCE-DRIVEN OPERATIONS, NEUTRALIZE ARMED BANDIT AND ARREST CRIMINAL SUSPECTS.”

Key action unfolded on February 3 in Ayamba Village, Katsina-Ala Local Government Area of Benue State.

“Troops of Sector 1, OPWS, acting on credible intelligence regarding the activities of armed herders, swiftly mobilised in conjunction with personnel of the Nigerian Police Force and operatives of the Benue State Civil Protection Guard to the location,” the statement noted.

Operations continue with sustained patrols, aiming to dismantle bandit networks and restore security in volatile regions.
