Troops of Operation WHIRL STROKE have achieved notable successes in intelligence-driven operations across Benue State on March 24, 2026, targeting armed herders and kidnappers.
A statement obtained from Lt. Ahmad Zubairu Zubairu, Acting Media Information Officer of HQ JTF Operation WHIRL STROKE, revealed that in Gwer West Local Government Area, soldiers from Sector 1, deployed from Bilawa-Jor and Naka, acted on credible tips about armed herders in Mbapa and Mbabuande communities.
They uncovered an abandoned suspected criminal hideout during a thorough search and pressed on across River Akpako, arresting two suspects now in custody for further investigation.
The statement partly reads, “Troops of Operation WHIRL STROKE have recorded significant operational successes following intelligence-led clearance operations conducted on 24 March 2026 across parts of Benue State.”
Elsewhere, in Tse-Ubena village, Yooyo Council Ward of Katsina-Ala LGA, troops from Tor-Donga teamed up with Benue State Civil Protection Guard operatives to raid a kidnapping hideout.
They rescued 28-year-old Member Ityavber, who is now receiving care and reunited with her family post-debrief.
The operation continues as authorities hunt the syndicate members.
Major General Moses Gara, Force Commander of Joint Task Force Operation WHIRL STROKE, praised the troops.
“He commended the troops for their prompt response and professionalism. He reaffirmed the commitment of the Joint Task Force to ensuring a secure environment, particularly as communities prepare for the farming season,” the statement added.
