Troops save four kidnapped victims in gun battle

Troops of 63 Brigade of the Nigerian Army on Tuesday, saved four kidnapped victims in Ugbolu forest in the Oshimili South Local Government Area of Delta State.
In a statement by the Assistant Director of Army Public Relations, Major Emmanuel Onoja, the operation followed an intelligence report on the activities of the suspected kidnappers in the area.
Onoja noted that the troops of the 63 Brigade conducted a successful raid on the kidnappers’ hideout on Monday, December 9, 2024.
He stressed that troops engaged the kidnappers in a fierce gun battle, overpowering them and forcing them to abandon their captives as they fled into the dense forest.
He thereby confirmed that four abductees were rescued unharmed, noting that the victims are in a secure location receiving care and support.
Onaja stated that troops are still searching for the fleeing kidnappers.
However, he enjoined the public to be vigilant and report any suspicious activities to security agencies, and assured of the army’s commitment to eliminating all forms of criminality in the state.
