Troops of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), Joint Task Force North East, successfully repelled several terrorist attacks across Borno and Adamawa States between October 25 and 31, 2025, the Nigerian Army announced Saturday.
The statement highlighted actions including an attempted suicide bombing, ambushes, and disruption of terrorist logistics, stressing that troops “stood firm, executed swift responses, and thwarted enemy advances, all while safeguarding civilians and maintaining operational efficiency.”
On October 25, troops foiled an attempted attack in Kukawa Town involving a Vehicle-Borne Improvised Explosive Device (VBIED).
Despite the armored vehicle bouncing RPG fire, it was finally neutralised by a T-55 tank, preventing a “catastrophic attack.”
A 10-year-old girl suffered minor injuries and was treated.
In cooperation with the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), troops safely disposed of three Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) on the Dikwa–Ajiri axis, averting sabotage of supply routes.
An October 29 ambush by the 192 Battalion and CJTF neutralised two terrorists in the Gwoza–Limankara area, forcing the rest to flee to Mandara Mountains, with recovered items showing ongoing terrorist use of bicycles and food supplies.
On October 30, the 202 Battalion and Volunteer Force engaged terrorists attempting to cross from Gezuwa towards Sambisa Forest, causing insurgents to flee in disarray.
In a separate anti-smuggling operation on October 29, the 232 Battalion intercepted illegal conveyance of Premium Motor Spirit in Adamawa State, seizing drums and motorcycles.
A “cordon and search operation” on October 30 led to the arrest of five suspects in Madagali Local Government Area, with weapons and drugs recovered.
The Army listed the suspects and stated, “Preliminary investigations are ongoing.”
The Air Component Command of OPHK provided vital air support with precision strikes and ISR asset surveillance.
A follow-up operation on October 31 near Sambisa Forest yielded one terrorist corpse, weapons, ammunition, and bicycles without any troop casualties.
