President Donald Trump has issued an appeal for international support in safeguarding the Strait of Hormuz, urging allies like China, France, Japan, South Korea, and the UK to deploy warships alongside U.S. forces to counter lingering Iranian disruptions to this critical global oil chokepoint.

In a statement on Saturday, Trump framed the request as essential despite what he described as a decisive U.S. victory over Iran’s military.

“We have already destroyed 100% of Iran’s Military capability.

“In the meantime, the United States will be bombing the hell out of the shoreline, and continually shooting Iranian Boats and Ships out of the water,” he wrote.

Trump highlighted persistent risks from “low-tech” Iranian tactics, noting, “it’s easy for them to send a drone or two, drop a mine, or deliver a close range missile somewhere along, or in, this Waterway, no matter how badly defeated they are.”

He portrayed Iran as “a Nation that has been totally decapitated” and called for collective action: “Hopefully China, France, Japan, South Korea, the UK, and others, that are affected by this artificial constraint, will send Ships to the area so that the Strait will no longer be a threat.”
