United States President Donald Trump has accused Iran of unjustly attacking Qatar’s LNG facility in retaliation for an Israeli strike on a section of Iran’s South Pars Gas Field, threatening unprecedented U.S. military action if it happens again.

Trump in a statement shared by the White House on Thursday said incident escalated tensions in the Middle East after Israel, “out of anger for what has taken place,” targeted “a relatively small section” of the massive South Pars Gas Field, a critical energy hub shared by Iran and Qatar.

The U.S. was not informed of the Israeli operation beforehand, and Qatar “was in no way, shape, or form, involved with it, nor did it have any idea that it was going to happen.”

Iran, unaware of these details, struck back at “a portion of Qatar’s LNG Gas facility,” Trump said, calling the response “unjustifiably and unfairly” aimed at an innocent party.

Trump vowed no further Israeli attacks on South Pars “unless Iran unwisely decides to attack a very innocent, in this case, Qatar.”

He then issued a dire ultimatum, “In which instance the United States of America, with or without the help or consent of Israel, will massively blow up the entirety of the South Pars Gas Field at an amount of strength and power that Iran has never seen or witnessed before.”

The president expressed reluctance for such escalation, stating, “I do not want to authorise this level of violence and destruction because of the long term implications that it will have on the future of Iran, but if Qatar’s LNG is again attacked, I will not hesitate to do so.”

Energy markets reacted sharply, with oil prices spiking amid fears of broader conflict disrupting global gas supplies.
