The Presidency has set the record straight about President Bola Tinubu’s two two-week vacation, stating that the president can travel anywhere throughout his vacation.

The clarification came after criticism that Tinubu travelled from United Kindom to France as against what his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga divulged to the public.

Onanuga had in a statement on October 2, announced the president’s departure from Abuja to the UK for a two-week vacation.

He wrote, “President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will depart Abuja today for the United Kingdom to begin a two-week vacation, part of his yearly leave.

“He will use the two weeks as a working vacation and a retreat to reflect on his administration’s economic reforms.”

However, Tinubu reportedly departed the UK for Paris, France on Friday.

Confirming his departure to France, the Special Assistant to the President on Political and other matters, Ibrahim Kabir Masari, through his verified X (formally Twitter) account, said he had the honour of visiting President Tinubu at his private residence in the UK, where they engaged in productive discussions before departing for Paris.

He stated that Tinubu was expected to attend an important engagement.

He wrote, Today, I had the honour of visiting President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR at his private residence in the United Kingdom, where we engaged in productive discussions.

“We then departed for Paris, France, for another important engagement.”

Reacting to the criticism about Tinubu’s unaware trip, Onanuga enunciated that the President is not restricted to the UK for his two-week leave.

Onanuga wrote on X, “President Tinubu is on leave for two weeks. He is not restricted to the UK.

“It is his private time. He can go to anywhere he so desires. He is still observing his leave.”
