The abduction occurred on November 17 when bandits attacked a school, killing an official and injuring a security guard before kidnapping 25 female students.

The BBC reported that two of the girls managed to escape their captors while being led into the bushes, crossing farmland to safety.

This development highlights the ongoing security challenges in the region.

On November 19, Hussaini Aliyu, chairman of Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area, released the names of all 25 abducted schoolgirls.

President Bola Tinubu, responded swiftly by directing Bello Matawalle, the Minister of State for Defence, to relocate to Kebbi to oversee operations.

The president instructed that Matawalle be stationed in Kebbi “to monitor security efforts to secure the release of the abducted students.”
