Recall that the 27-year-old forward also played a crucial role in Nigeria’s run to the Africa Cup of Nations final, cementing his status as one of Africa’s brightest talents.
Lookman outshone tough competition from top African players including Morocco’s Achraf Hakimi and Ivory Coast’s Simon Adingra at the awards ceremony held in Marrakech, Morocco.
His remarkable performances in Serie A and international tournaments earned him this honour, making him the seventh Nigerian to win the accolade and continuing Nigeria’s strong legacy in African football.
The award marks a triumphant comeback for Lookman, who overcame earlier career challenges to become Africa’s best player in 2024, inspiring many with his journey and achievements.
