The false reports emerged on Saturday, claiming that the 86-year-old thespian, famed for his roles in Yoruba classics such as Ogbori Elemosho and Saworo Ide, had passed away. These works remain foundational to Nigeria’s rich cultural heritage.

In a statement signed by Adejonwo Oluwafemi, National Public Relations Officer of ANTP , the association assured the public that Chief Lere Paimo is “alive, healthy, and in high spirits,” labeling the rumours as “misleading and unnecessary.”

The association also thanked fans for their concern while urging the public to refrain from circulating unverified information about respected cultural figures.

Chief Lere Paimo continues to be recognised as one of the most influential custodians of Yoruba theatre, inspiring a new generation of performers through his decades-long contribution to Nigeria’s performing arts.
