A high-profile All Progressives Congress (APC) stakeholders meeting in Gombe State erupted into chaos on Sunday after the National Vice Chairman for the North-East, Comrade Mustapha Salihu, endorsed President Bola Tinubu for a second term without mentioning Vice President Kashim Shettima.

This omission sparked outrage among delegates, some of whom hurled insults and threatened physical attacks, forcing security operatives to escort Salihu out of the venue.
Despite efforts to calm tensions—such as Deputy National Chairman Bukar Dalori endorsing both Tinubu and Shettima—the meeting ended abruptly after National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje also endorsed Tinubu alone, again without mentioning Shettima.
Ganduje was similarly escorted out by security.
The incident highlights internal divisions within the APC North-East over the Tinubu-Shettima ticket ahead of the 2027 elections. Shettima is a native of Borno State in the region.
The controversy contrasts with other APC zones, like North-Central, which have publicly reaffirmed support for the Tinubu-Shettima ticket.
