Anambra State Governor, Charles Soludo asserted that he defeated Peter Obi, the former governor and presidential candidate of the Labour Party, in Obi’s own constituency.
Speaking during a recent press conference, Soludo used his victory to declare the Labour Party and the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as “dead parties,” signaling a decisive blow to the opposition in the region.
Soludo said in a viral video on Monday, “I defeated Peter Obi right in his backyard. This sends a clear message that the Labour Party and ADC no longer have any relevance or support here. These parties are dead; they have been rejected by the people of Anambra.”
The governor’s remarks come amid the political aftermath of recent elections where the ADC, led by Peter Obi, made significant inroads nationally, but Soludo claims that in Anambra, their influence has waned drastically.
“Our people have spoken loudly. They chose progress, stability, and leadership that delivers. The Labour Party and ADC are relics of the past — no one buys their rhetoric anymore,” he added.
Obi has enjoyed considerable grassroots support in the region, especially from youth and urban voters.
