Suspected bandits have reportedly attacked a Cherubim and Seraphim Church in Ejigba town, Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State on Sunday, local sources confirmed.

The assault took place during a church service, causing panic among worshippers.

Eyewitness Adegboyega Oguns, who was present, recounted the chaos, saying, “It’s a new Cherubim and Seraphim church. The pastor popularly called Orlando and wife with some others have been kidnapped.”

He added, “It is serious, we all ran out of church.”

The Government has reportedly responded by deploying a helicopter and an anti-kidnapping team to track down the armed bandits responsible for the attack.

This violent raid follows a recent attack on a Christ Apostolic Church in the Eruku area of Kwara State, where bandits killed two people and abducted several congregants. Some captives have since been freed.

The surge in attacks on schools and churches reflects escalating insecurity in parts of Nigeria.

However, Security forces are intensifying their presence to combat the rising tide of kidnappings and banditry.
