“I am still a Reverend Father; being in governance does not take that away from me. There’s no Christian genocide in Benue State; we only face security challenges,” Alia stated, addressing growing concerns over violence in the state.
This response comes in the wake of a controversial statement by m U.S. President Donald Trump, who threatened to invade Nigeria should the alleged genocide against Christians in the country continue unchecked.
Since then, Nigerians have been deeply divided—while some back Trump’s assertion, others reject the possibility of foreign intervention and question the characterisation of the violence as genocide.
