Representative to the United Nations, Fu Cong, has unleashed a fierce rebuke against the United States during an emergency UN Security Council session, condemning the US military operation that seized Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro as a blatant violation of international law and sovereignty.
Fu Cong, speaking alongside Russia’s representative, demanded Maduro’s “immediate release” and labeled the US action a dangerous precedent of interference in another state’s internal affairs.
He specifically highlighted the breach of head-of-state immunity, framing it as an assault on the principles of the UN Charter.
In his delivered statement, Fu Cong stated, “The United States has trampled Venezuelan sovereignty” and urged members “to release Maduro once and for all and to stop interfering in the security of other states.”
