Speaking at the panel “Rhythms of the Continent: The Afrobeat Movement and Its Impacts on African Film,” Davido said, “My brother was saying that he was going to give me a role. I told him I wanted to do a role that would be shot by a taxi driver or something — like something out of the blue.”

He expressed excitement about expanding his creative reach beyond music and getting involved in storytelling through cinema, saying,
“So I definitely want to get involved in movies.”

Davido also drew inspiration from international stars like 50 Cent who have successfully crossed over into film and television production.

He emphasised his desire to tell real-life inspired stories and collaborate with African creatives to produce authentic narratives.

Recalling a formative influence, Davido shared, “I was inspired by a series I watched growing up titled ‘Uncorked,’ and I want to produce relatable and authentic stories that reflect African experiences.”
