Video: Davido hosts highlife legend Bright Chimezie

Afrobeats artist David Adeleke, widely recognized as Davido, met with renowned highlife musician Bright Chimezie in Lagos just days after praising the veteran’s impact on his recent song “With You,” which features Omah Lay.

In Instagram videos, Davido was seen warmly greeting Chimezie and enjoying a lively conversation with the artist famous for his vibrant “Zigima” music style.

This face-to-face encounter came after a recent video call where Davido acknowledged that Chimezie’s 2018 track “Because of English” inspired his new song “With You.”

“I drew inspiration from your song. God bless you,” Davido stated during their virtual conversation, a snippet of which was shared by nightlife entrepreneur Cubana Chief Priest.

Additionally, Davido previewed the “With You” music video for Chimezie during the call and expressed his desire to meet in person, saying, “It would be great to meet you face-to-face.”

Chimezie, visibly touched, praised the new single as “a beautiful piece of work” and expressed gratitude for Davido’s recognition of his musical legacy.
