Video: Davido pays tribute to late Sound Sultan in “10 Kilo” music Video

Afrobeats superstar, David Adeleke alias Davido has honoured the late legendary Nigerian musician, Sound Sultan in the music video for his hit track “10 Kilo,” released recently from his album “5ive.”

Directed by Director Pink, the colourful and vibrant video features a touching homage to Sound Sultan, integrating his image prominently in the visuals as a mark of respect.
The tribute reflects the deep influence Sound Sultan had on the Nigerian music scene and on Davido himself.
Known as a pioneer of modern Afrobeats, Sound Sultan left a lasting legacy with hits like “Orobo,” a song that celebrated plus-size women—an inspiration mirrored in Davido’s “10 Kilo,” which similarly celebrates plus-size women with lyrics that echo Sound Sultan’s style.
The video includes scenes with plus-size models dancing in front of a backdrop bearing Sound Sultan’s photograph, symbolising a joyful celebration of his life and music.
Since Sound Sultan’s passing in July 2021 from cancer, many Nigerian artists including 2Face, Burna Boy, Spyro, and Sean Tizzle have paid tribute to the late icon, affirming his lasting impact on the industry.
