Nigerian music icon, Dbanj has opened up about the reason behind his split with longtime collaborator Don Jazzy, stating clearly that the decision was “100%” Don Jazzy’s and reinforcing that their parting was amicable.

Speaking on The Micon Podcast, Dbanj explained, “The idea to go separate ways didn’t come from me. It came from Don Jazzy 100%, and that’s why we still have no issues.”
He also revealed Don Jazzy’s generosity, saying, “He gave me everything he could on my catalog, including unreleased tracks.”
Reflecting on their years of collaboration, Dbanj expressed gratitude and framed their separation as a natural evolution rather than a fallout: “I move like a bullet train. Even when it stops, it’s for a minute. This journey requires moving with time, and that’s what I’ve always focused on.”
He further underscored the lasting legacy of their partnership, especially the global success of their smash hit “Oliver Twist,” which continues to amplify their influence despite their independent paths.
