Dele Momodu, publisher and PDP chieftain, has given a gripping account of his narrow escape from the attempted military coup in the Republic of Benin.
Speaking on Channels TV’s Sunrise Daily on Monday, Momodu described how a routine trip to Cotonou turned into a tense ordeal amid unfolding chaos.
He revealed that his troubles began before departure when he found his vehicle documents were incomplete.
“So, unfortunately the night before, I searched, I had all my international papers but then I asked my driver for the vehicle particulars and he only had the photocopy. I wasn’t comfortable with that,” he said.
Choosing to postpone his journey close to midnight, Momodu believes this decision was providential, as the coup attempt erupted hours later.
Reflecting on the experience, he called it a “brush with destiny,” expressing immense gratitude for what he described as divine intervention.
