The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has announced a sweeping investigation into property ownership across Nigeria’s estates, aiming to uncover the true proprietors behind these holdings.
EFCC Chairman Ola Olukoyede revealed that the commission has formed a dedicated team tasked with visiting estates nationwide to verify ownership details.
“Our objective is clear: We want to know who owns what. We’ve already gathered substantial information indicating that many of these estates were financed by civil servants who have stolen money,” Olukoyede stated emphatically.
The chairman’s remarks shed light on the commission’s growing focus on tracking and recovering assets believed to be acquired through corrupt practices within the public service sector.
