Video: El-Rufai dodges arrest at Abuja Airport as supporters clash with security

Tension erupted at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport today when security operatives attempted to arrest former Kaduna Governor Nasir El-Rufai upon his arrival from Cairo, only for supporters to intervene and demand a formal invitation.
Eyewitnesses reported that agents approached El-Rufai at the terminal, but a group of vocal Nigerians shielded him, insisting he would not leave without official paperwork.
The standoff escalated when operatives seized his passport from an aide.
Videos circulating on X (formerly Twitter) captured the chaotic scene, showing supporters forming a human barrier as El-Rufai exited the airport.
The incident follows El-Rufai’s public warning on Wednesday of a possible politically motivated arrest.
He accused National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu of influencing the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), amid his criticisms of President Bola Tinubu’s administration and his failed Senate confirmation bid in 2023.
