Speaking at an event in Ibadan, Adelabu confidently stated, “I contested in 2019 and 2023, so in 2027, Èmi Lókàn.”
Reflecting on his political journey, he noted, “I’ve been on this journey for quite some time, and I’ve come to understand that in politics, success doesn’t come the day you join — it comes through patience, consistency, and grace.”
Adelabu underscored that he has “paid my dues” in the race alongside Governor Seyi Makinde since 2019.
Speaking in the indigenous language, Adelabu called on his supporters to unite early, stressing the importance of teamwork, “This isn’t about pride or boasting; it’s about commitment and teamwork. We must all work together to make it happen. We’ve tried doing it alone before, and it didn’t work. This time, it must be a collective effort.”
He urged mobilization efforts across the state to build a strong grassroots movement for 2027.
A former deputy governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, and a past APC governorship candidate who later moved to the Accord Party, Adelabu’s 2027 bid comes as Governor Seyi Makinde prepares to step down after completing his maximum two terms.
This election promises a fresh contest, with Adelabu positioning himself as the next leader ready to take Oyo State forward.
