The Governor of Enugu State, Peter Mbah, has officially declared a significant political shift, moving from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In a heartfelt address, the Governor underscored a moment of “reflection, gratitude and renewal,” outlining a fresh direction for the state and expressing deep appreciation to the people of Enugu for their unwavering support.
“I want to begin by expressing a deep gratitude to God and Ndi Enugu. For we are indeed at a moment of reflection, gratitude and renewal,” Mbah said.
Highlighting the transformation achieved under his leadership, the Governor pointed to tangible developments, “It looks like Smart Green Schools nearing completion and primary healthcare centres in all 260 wards, crime down by 80%; Maternal, Under-5 and infant mortality rates reduced by 400 percent over 1000 kilometres of paved roads and Internally-Generated Revenue up 600%.”
He credited the people’s trust, stating, “When I declared that ‘Tomorrow Is Here,’ it struck a chord in your hearts. You put aside long-held skepticism and stood by us. Without that trust, the transformation we see today would never have happened.”
Expressing gratitude to both his administration and the PDP, the Governor acknowledged, “To the Peoples Democratic Party, which provided the platform on which we campaigned and won, I extend deep gratitude. Yet, leadership sometimes demands difficult – even painful – decisions in the service of higher principles and goals.”
He concluded with the decisive announcement, “Today, after a long reflection, we have made the decision to leave the PDP and join the All Progressives Congress.”
