Nigerian singer, Fido has addressed the recent misunderstanding surrounding his “Osakpolor” remark, which some interpreted as a slight against Davido’s fanbase, 30BG.
In a recent interview, Fido explained, “I wasn’t talking about anybody’s fans. This was just like a misunderstanding, and then I already apologised to him (Davido).”
He emphasised that his words were taken out of context, saying, “So the fans of that person thought I was insulting. Okay? So they took my tweet a different way. You get? Some like, ‘Hey yo, that’s not what I meant.’ Sorry, this is what I mean too. And you know, anything can happen. The industry just gets wild. Baddest, that’s my dad. That’s Davido. Yeah, I’m his boy.”
Fido also made it clear that he holds no grudges against Davido or his followers.
“I have no issues with him. It came out not to insult or disrespect, so that’s a different case,” he said.
The singer further described himself as a cool and approachable guy, contrasting public perception with personal interaction, “People—when people see me on TV, ‘This guy’s so proud.’ But when they tend to meet me one-on-one, they’ll say, ‘Fido is a different guy.’”
He wrapped up by calling for calm among fans, highlighting the passionate nature of the music scene today.
“Just down, near my mission, I’m just saying like, ‘This fans, cool down, calm down.’ Yeah, not to really stir things up.”
