Addressing common passenger frustrations, Saka highlighted that many delays, often announced as “unscheduled maintenance,” are actually precautionary safety measures triggered by unforeseen events.

He shared an example where an antelope unexpectedly ran across the runway, causing a minor incident during landing.

He noted that announcing the true cause could cause unnecessary panic, so airlines use broader terms to keep passengers calm while ensuring thorough safety checks.

Saka emphasised, “Every delay is, above all, a safety measure. No airline benefits from delaying a flight-they lose money, operational time, and passenger goodwill.

“If a delay happens, it’s because your safety is non-negotiable.”

He thereby called for patience and understanding, reminding the public that behind every delay is a team working hard to ensure safe travel.
