French President Emmanuel Macron has rejected involvement in the escalating US-Israel conflict with Iran, emphasising France’s non-participatory stance.
“France did not choose this Iran war. We are not taking part in it. Nobody can force us,” Macron said in a video clip, framing the conflict as an unwanted escalation while underscoring France’s commitment to defensive priorities.
The remarks highlight Europe’s broader cautious approach as tensions rise in the Middle East.
France has deployed its nuclear-powered aircraft carrier, the Charles de Gaulle, to the Mediterranean to bolster regional security, protect French expatriates, and support allies without direct engagement.
Macron’s position comes amid reports of intensified exchanges between Israel, the US, and Iran, with European leaders urging de-escalation to avoid wider involvement.
