Nigerians have been facing a slight increase in gas prices, prompting concerns amid reports of long queues and shortages in some areas.

The Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), Bashir Ojulari, addressed the issue, explaining that “The increase you saw is relatively artificial, because during the period of the strike (PENGASSAN strike), what happened was that movement and loading were delayed by 2 to 3 days.”
He added, “You see that impact, but now things are back to normal, and prices will return to where they were before the strike.”
Earlier Dailyeconomy reports highlighted the strain on residents, particularly at Gasland on the LASU–Igando Expressway in Lagos, where long lines formed as people struggled to refill their cooking gas cylinders amid a worsening shortage.
Customers arriving as early as 6 am reported the scarcity has persisted for days, forcing many to travel long distances in search of gas.
However, with the resolution of the strike and resumption of normal supply operations, officials expect prices and availability to stabilize shortly.
