Dressed in a traditional white agbada and cap, Musa spoke confidently to senators in the formal chamber, emphasising collaboration and resilience.
He stressed, “That we first must love one another, understand that we are in this together, and believe that the challenges we are facing is an enduring challenge—not only for the armed forces or for the security forces, but it’s for everyone working together.”
Musa assured the Senate of his commitment to unity, recalling his tenure as Chief of Defence Staff and stating, “I want to assure you we are going to work united, as we did when I was our Chief of Defence Staff.”
Addressing the threats from the Sahel region, he warned, “The Sahel is heating up. You can see what they’re doing to Mali. No one wants such situations to come to Nigeria. That’s why our borders must be secured.”
He called for empowering and supporting security forces to meet these threats effectively.
Expressing gratitude, General Musa thanked “Mr President, for all the support given to me when I was Chief of Defence Staff. It made a great difference. The National Assembly stood by us all through, despite the challenges.”
Closing on a note of patriotism and hope, he reiterated, “Nigeria is great. I will never be ashamed, and nobody can intimidate us—that I know—because we’re one people, God’s people that will continue to flourish, no matter what others are saying. Everybody in the world knows Nigeria is great, and it will continue to be so.”
