Colleagues at a Minneapolis Veteran’s Hospital paid a heartfelt tribute to Alex Pretti, a 37-year-old ICU nurse gunned down by ICE agents, with a solemn procession featuring a flag-draped gurney rolling through the halls.

The emotional video, which has since gone viral, captures hospital staff lining the corridors in silence, saluting the empty stretcher as it honours Pretti, who was fatally shot on January 24, 2026.
Pretti reportedly intervened in an altercation where federal officers were restraining a woman, witnesses say, rushing to de-escalate the chaos without drawing his legally carried handgun.
Eyewitness accounts directly contradict ICE’s claim of self-defense, reporting that the nurse posed no threat and acted heroically.
“He was trying to calm things down, not escalate,” one staffer recounted in the footage, which also levels sharp criticism at ICE policies under the Trump administration and demands accountability for what many call an excessive use of force.
The incident has ignited widespread public fury, spotlighting escalating tensions between immigration enforcement and civilian bystanders, especially in healthcare settings.
