In a disturbing incident at Lagos airport, an Ibom Air passenger reportedly assaulted an air hostess before becoming violent with airport officials.

The passenger’s aggressive behaviour disrupted operations and raised serious concerns about passenger conduct and airport security.

Authorities intervened promptly to restore order and are currently investigating the circumstances leading to the altercation.

Ibom Air has condemned the actions, emphasising the importance of safety and respect for staff and fellow travelers.

However, the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA)’s Director of Public Affairs, Michael Achimugu, commented on the incident, noting it was a result of the passenger’s failure to follow instructions.

Achimugu stressed that passenger compliance with crew directives, such as turning off mobile phones during takeoff and landing, is crucial for safety and helps prevent confrontations.

He said, “When cabin crew ask you to turn off your phone before takeoff/landing, simply comply. I can’t understand why simple routine issues would lead to incidents like this. Passengers need to understand that they have responsibilities, not just rights. Will address this after more details become clearer by tomorrow.”
