Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, disclosed in a statement on Tuesday that operatives of the Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) Waste Surveillance, Investigation and Enforcement Team have been deployed to multiple locations to dislodge unauthorised waste operators.

According to Wahab, the officers were “on duty to disengage illegal cart-pushers/wheelbarrow pushers’ activities in the state, to ensure sustainability and total zero waste tolerance” in several key areas, including Anthony, Shomolu, Apapa–Oworonshoki Expressway, Kosofe, Mile 12, and “other parts of the state.”

He reiterated the government’s commitment to a cleaner Lagos under its ongoing “#ZeroToleranceLagos” campaign, warning that informal and unlicensed waste collectors would no longer be allowed to operate outside the regulated waste management system.
