Nobel Prize winner Professor Wole Soyinka showed his passion for infrastructure development during the inauguration of a 30-kilometer segment of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway in Lagos on Friday.

“I’m a sucker for new roads!” Soyinka declared, eliciting laughter and applause from the audience.

The esteemed literary figure stated that his attendance at the event stemmed from his strong appreciation for transformative infrastructure that fosters connectivity and contributes to national progress.

The newly commissioned section is part of the larger 750-kilometer Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway project, which was introduced by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as part of his administration’s initiative to modernize Nigeria’s transportation system.
