Video: Interior Minister confronts Fire Service officer over negligence in Abuja

The Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has engaged in a tense face-off with a Fire Service officer during an unscheduled inspection of agencies under the Interior Ministry in Abuja.

The confrontation arose over the officer’s unprofessional conduct and apparent negligence concerning fire trucks and fire engines.

Tunji-Ojo sharply criticised the officer for the poor state of firefighting equipment, rejecting the claim that the fault in the fire truck had just developed the previous day.

Addressing the officer directly, the minister questioned, “You’re collecting salary to be fully active not to be giving excuses, what do you want to happen to common Nigerians when they call you for an emergency?”

He noted that they have to show accountability and readiness within emergency response units under the Interior Ministry.
