Iran has claimed it holds the power to dictate the resolution of the ongoing conflict with the United States amid heightened tensions.

Iranian Major General Mohsen Rezaei made the assertion during a televised interview, stating that “the end of war is in our hands.”
Rezaei demanded “full compensation” from the US for damages incurred and insisted on a “complete withdrawal” from the Persian Gulf, framing these as non-negotiable preconditions for peace.

The comments come in the wake of devastating US-Israeli airstrikes on February 28, 2026, which targeted Iranian military and nuclear sites.

The strikes reportedly killed Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, sending shockwaves through the region and severely disrupting global oil supplies through the Strait of Hormuz.

Shipping traffic in the vital waterway has plummeted by over 70%, according to maritime trackers, fueling fears of a broader energy crisis.
