Video: Iran downs US F-15 jet

Iran’s Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) announced on Friday that it had downed a United States F-15 fighter jet over Qeshm Island, escalating claims amid heightened regional tensions.

The IRGC stated its forces intercepted and destroyed the American aircraft in the Persian Gulf.

Qeshm Island, a strategic Iranian territory near the Strait of Hormuz, has been a flashpoint in past US-Iran standoffs.

The claim comes as Tehran and Washington trade accusations over military activities in the Gulf.

However, US Central Command (CENTCOM) rejected the assertion, confirming no aircraft losses.

“All US jets are accounted for,” a CENTCOM spokesperson said in a statement.

“Iran has made similar unverified claims at least six times in recent years, none substantiated.”
