Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Deputy Commander, Ali Fadavi has dismissed U.S. President Donald Trump’s recent ceasefire overtures as a sign of weakness, claiming they stem from mounting pressure rather than battlefield success.

In a Farsi-language statement translated into English, Fadavi said, “We have heard since yesterday that Trump is personally calling for a ceasefire. If the enemy were winning the war, he would not be asking the whole world to mediate a ceasefire.”

He further argued that Trump made the remarks due to “pressure being exerted on him from here” and warned that “Americans should expect new surprises in the coming days.”

The comments come amid a rapidly escalating conflict that began around March 1 with U.S. strikes on Iranian nuclear sites.

Trump addressed the nation on March 10, justifying the actions by crediting close advisors—including son-in-law Jared Kushner—for averting a larger attack.

In the speech, he stated, “The situation was very quickly approaching the point of no return and United States found it intolerable in my opinion based on what Steve, Jared, Pete others were telling me Marco so involved that I thought they would attack us. If we didn’t do this at the time we did it I think they had in mind to attack us.”
