Iranian Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi has dismissed calls for a ceasefire or negotiations with the United States during a Sunday interview, framing the ongoing conflict as an “illegal and illegitimate” aggression driven by President Trump.

“We never asked for a ceasefire or negotiations. We don’t see any reason why we should talk with Americans at this point, because what they are doing is completely illegal and illegitimate,” Araghchi stated.

He pledged Iran’s commitment to self-defense “as long as it takes,” vowing to continue until the US acknowledges the war’s futility.

“We are ready to defend ourselves as long as it takes — and this is what we have done so far, and we continue to do that — until President Trump comes to the point that this is an illegal war with no victory,” he said.

Araghchi accused Trump of treating the conflict as personal entertainment, citing reports of US actions like sinking ships “because it is fun.”

He also condemned US Secretary of Defense statements on showing “no mercy” as potential war crimes, “This is a war of choice by President Trump and the United States, and we are going to continue our self-defense. Even saying that is a war crime.”
