United States Secretary of State Marco Rubio has issued a warning about Iran’s massive ballistic missile arsenal, which he said endangers American bases across the Gulf and naval operations, extending far beyond the Islamic Republic’s nuclear ambitions.

In a press briefing, Rubio highlighted Iran’s stockpile of over 3,000 ballistic missiles—particularly short-range variants—as a clear and present danger to U.S. interests.

“Iran possesses a very large number of ballistic missiles, particularly short-range ballistic missiles that threaten the United States and our bases in the region, and our partners in the region.

“And all of our bases in the UAE, in Qatar, in Bahrain,” Rubio said.

He also pointed to Iran’s naval capabilities, which he described as tools to disrupt shipping and challenge U.S. forces.

“They also possess naval assets that threaten shipping and try to threaten the US Navy.

“So I want everyone to understand that beyond just the nuclear program, they possess these conventional weapons that are solely designed to attack America and attack Americans,” Rubio added.
