Iran’s newly appointed Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei has pledged to retaliate against the United States and Israel for deadly strikes that killed over 200 people, including his father, former Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, on March 1.
Khamenei, in a inaugural address said, “We will take revenge and destroy their facilities equal to the compensation that we need.
“Those who killed our children will pay the price.”
The remarks escalate the ongoing U.S.-Israel-Iran conflict, which intensified after the assassinations.
Iran has maintained a strict closure of the Strait of Hormuz, a critical global oil chokepoint, while issuing warnings of further attacks on U.S. and allied military bases in the Gulf region.
It was gathered that Iranian retaliatory strikes have already disrupted key oil shipping routes, sending energy prices spiking and rattling international markets.
