The Israeli Prime Minister in an interview with ABC news warned of the consequences of US inaction, stating, “Look, I understand ‘America First.’ I don’t understand ‘America Dead”.
His remarks came amid escalating Israeli airstrikes and Iranian missile barrages marking the fifth day of the conflict.
The war began on Friday, June 13, 2025, when Israel launched Operation Rising Lion, targeting over a dozen Iranian nuclear and military sites, killing hundreds including top Iranian military commanders and nuclear scientists.
According to reports, Israel’s strikes destroyed key nuclear facilities such as Natanz and Isfahan, and hit missile bases and military infrastructure across Iran.
However, Iran retaliated with missile attacks on Israeli cities including Tel Aviv and Netanya, causing widespread alarm and prompting evacuation orders in both countries.
The conflict has seen unprecedented air operations, including Israeli strikes as far as Mashhad airport in northeast Iran, and Iran shooting down an Israeli F-35 over Tabriz.
Both sides have issued evacuation orders for civilians near military and nuclear sites, raising fears of further escalation.
Meanwhile, Israel claims to have achieved air supremacy over Tehran and destroyed a significant portion of Iran’s missile launchers.
Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) vows to continue operations until Israel’s “complete destruction”.
The U.S. has so far refrained from direct military involvement despite Israeli requests, leading to Netanyahu’s pointed criticism.
U.S. President Donald Trump issued an ominous message calling for the evacuation of Tehran, signaling heightened tensions but no formal entry into the war.
Diplomatic efforts, including mediation attempts by Oman and Qatar, are reportedly underway to halt the conflict and revive nuclear talks.
